SFC Paul Augustine Connolly, US Army Retired, 73 of Fayetteville, Passed away Sunday October 24, 2010.
The family will receive friends today, Thursday October 28, 2010 from 8:30am to 9:00am in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, followed by a Mass at 9:00am, The burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Catherine Connolly, a brother, William Jr. and a sister Catherine.
He was in the 1st Special Forces Group in Okinawa, the 5th SFG in Vietnam & was a member of the Special Forces Training Group, the 6th & 7th Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, the XVIII Airborne Corps C.I.D Command. He retired on October 31, 1976 and received the following medals: Bronze Star Medal with V Device, CIB, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, Meritorious Service Medal, 6 Good Conduct Medals, Army Commendation Medal, & Parachute Badge.
He owned & operated Fayetteville Polygraph Service from 1983 to 1990.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara; his sons, Ted, Joby & Mike, grandchildren, Christina and Gage; brothers, James, Frances, Father Joseph & John. A special daughter Vicki Cancio and her husband Santi and granddaughter Angela of Fuquay, numerous nieces, nephews & great nieces & nephews.
