Retired Army Sgt. Maj. Paul Kellam Jr., 82, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, in his home.
Mr. Kellam was an Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, with 22 years of service. He was a member of the Army Special Forces, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). He was one of the original volunteers for Special Forces.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in Northwood Temple with Dr. John Hedgepeth officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in Mount Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Cherryville.
Mr. Kellam is survived by his wife, Barbara Kellam of the home; sons, Mike Kellam of Norfolk, Va., Paul Kellam III of Fayetteville, David Kellam of Melbourne, Fla., and Ricky Kellam of Fayetteville; daughters, Katherine L. Putney of Jacksonville, Fla., Kristina Mika of Jacksonville and Lisa Moore of Fayetteville; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
