Obituary

Mrs. Pauline Barbour Kennedy, 84, a longtime resident of Fayetteville, went t be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Kennedy was born in Johnston County on May 16, 1922, to the late Julius Paul and Earl Johnson Barbour. She was raised a member of a farming family. Mrs. Kennedy had a love of gardening and was an accomplished homemaker, cook and seamtress. After raising her family, Mrs. Kennedy learned to drive and worked in Seventy-First High School Cafeteria for more than 20 years ub=ntil her retirement. She was a founding member of Lafayette Baptist Church and was active in various ministries and worked in the preschool department for more than 30 years. she was an avid carolina basketball fan. Mrs. Kennedy never missed a game on television and loved Dean Smith, Roy Williams and \\"her boys.\\" Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at 11 a.m. in Lafayette Baptist Church with Dr. Brian Lee and the Rev. Steve Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park-West. Pallbearers will be Brad Barbour, Scott Baarbour, Chad Barbour, Richard Bailey, Randy Fields and Will Roy. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-warren Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight. Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her children, Ron Kennedy and wife Reba of Knoxville, tenn., Don Kennedy and wife Edith of Puebla, Mexico and Judy McLaurin and husband Ron of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Michael Kennedy and wife Jennifer of San Francisco, David Kennedy and wife Ani of Knoxville, Tenn., Raquel Roy and husband Will of Maryville, Tenn., and Melody Kennedy of Dandridge, Tenn; and sisters-in-law, Marion Black of Hope Mills and Julia Kennedy of San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband William E. Kennedy; brothers, R.M. Barbour, Gerald Barbour, and Rayborn Barbour; and sister, Irene Grant. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and many, many friends. Mrs. Kennedy was much loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. \\"Well done, good and faithful servant.\\" Memorials may be made to Lafayette Baptist Church, 501 Hope mills Road, Fayetteville, NC, 28304.
