Perry Eugene Simpson 80, of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, November, 19, 2012. He was born January 27, 1932 in Bladen County, North Carolina to the late Reverend John Leander Simpson and Lessie Mae Pone Simpson. Mr. Simpson was an Army veteran of the Korean War. As recognition for his service, Perry was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Korean Service Medal. He was very much a loving man who was always concerned about his family and friends.
Rev. Dr. Lacy E. Simpson, Jr. will officiate at Perry's funeral service which will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2012 in Second New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 3225 Purdie Hall Road, St, Pauls, NC 28384 and visitation will occur 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm, one hour prior the service. Burial with military honors will follow in First New Light Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 514 River Road White Oak, North Carolina 28399.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his two daughters, Rosa (Ronald) Hamilton of White Plains, MD and Lessie (Dwayne) Cofield of Alpharetta, GA; four grandchildren, Angela Hamilton, Ronald Hamilton, Lauren Cofield, and Jonathan Cofield; one brother, Arthur Alton Simpson of Philadelphia, PA; one sister-in law, June Simpson of Philadelphia, PA; one niece, Andrea Simpson Ross of Charlotte, NC; and four nephews, George F. Clark of Tar Heel, NC, Herbert Simpson of Philadelphia, PA, Rev. Dr. Lacy E. Simpson, Jr. of Bunnlevel, NC, and Adrian Simpson, of Philadelphia, PA.
