Phyllis Holmes Matthews, 70, of Wade passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at her home.

Phyllis was born July 17, 1951 in Cumberland County, NC to the late Myron and Mildred Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Barney Holmes and half-sister, Mary Alyce Benkosky.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church, 6237 Front St., Falcon, NC with Dr. David Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3:00 pm on Sunday.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Hugh Stanley Matthews of the home; daughter, Lana Matthews Hall and husband Alan of Wade; grandchildren, Natalie and Olivia Hall; sister, Catherine Lewis and husband Dennis of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Marilyn Paschal and husband Richard of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
