Rachel Evans Wilson died on April 2, 2017, in Wilmington, NC.

She was born September 17, 1924, in Murfreesboro, NC, and was preceded in death by her parents, John Richard Evans and Estelle Garrison Evans, and her sister Elva Estelle Evans, all of Murfreesboro, NC. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 57 years, James Harley Wilson, Jr. Of Fayetteville.

She is survived by her children James Harley Wilson III and wife Kim of Fayetteville, Susan Wilson Snider and husband Larry of Wrightsville Beach, NC, and John Richard Wilson of Fayetteville. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth Wilson and fiancé Joe DePalo, Stuart Wilson, Rachel Snider and Robinson Snider.

She grew up in Murfreesboro and graduated from UNC-G (Women's College) in 1944. She then moved to Fayetteville and worked at Highsmith Rainey Hospital and the VA Hospital as a dietician. She married Jim Wilson of Newport News, VA in 1954. She was a member of Haymount United Methodist Church for many years, and was active in her Garden Club and enjoyed travel, Scrabble and fishing and was a very talented homemaker.

Services will be Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Haymount United Methodist Church with Rev. Francis Daniel, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church in the commons room. Burial will be private in Cross Creek Cemetery.
