Retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Raleigh \\"Pete\\" Hodges, 66, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in his home.
Mr. Hodges was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Before retiring from the Army, he received numerous medals and commendations, including the Vietnam Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and many others. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Hodges worked at Rhudy's Inc. in Fayetteville.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, with Chaplain Chris Carson officiating.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife, Margrete Hodges of the home; daughter, Dorle Turner and husband Bert of Hope Mills; son, Michael Hodges and wife Margaret of Kansas; two sisters, Brenda Thompkins and husband Teddy of King, and Rita Clement and husband Jerry of Lenoir; there brothers, Carlie Hodges and wife Bessie of Sparta, Junior Hodges and wife Sonya of Alabama, and Charlie Hodges of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Olivia, Ian, Elizabeth, Tiffanni, Kristain, Michael Alexander and Hunter; and two great-grandchildren, Kristina and Abbigail.
