Obituary

Raymond J. Dumas FAYETTEVILLE - Raymond Joseph Dumas, of Fayetteville, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010. Mr. Dumas was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Peabody, Mass. Ray spent his early years in Peabody until he was drafted into the Army during World War II, during which he served in the South Pacific. Ray joined Highland Presbyterian Church 61 years ago. He was an active member before his illness. Ray is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Bullard Dumas; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Dumas Godwin and Prescott Godwin; a brother, Edward J. Dumas of Salem, Mass.; two sisters, Pauline DePaolo of Peabody, Mass. and Ailene Labato of Carleton, Mich.; two grandchildren, Harry Prescott Godwin Jr. and Lacy Godwin Kells and her husband John Kells. Services will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church on Hay Street Thursday afternoon. Visitation will be in the session room from 1 to 1:45 p.m., followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Ray's honor to Highland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 111 Hay St., 28305, or Barium Springs Home for Children, P.O. Box 1, Barium Springs, NC 28010. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
