Obituary

Rebecca Sue Heath Dean, 64, of Fayetteville passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, at FirstHealth Hospice House.

Becky was born on July 26, 1959, in Cumberland County, to the late Harold Geddie Heath and Thelma Witt Heath.

Education was of primary importance to Becky.  She was a graduate of South View High School, UNC-Chapel Hill, Fayetteville State University and had degrees and certificates from Fayetteville Technical Community College.  Her Master of Education came from East Carolina University.  She loved teaching and spent several years as a Business Education teacher at Douglas Byrd High School, 71st High School, and Reid Ross High School, nurturing and loving her students every step of the way.  She loved traveling, even teaching for a period in Cameroon, Africa.  The beach was her favorite spot and she loved to fish.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

The family will have a gathering of friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The burial will be held later in Lafayette Memorial Park.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Allen Dean and her brother, Marion Anthony Heath.

Becky is survived by her sons, Warren Stewart and wife Susie, James Stewart and wife Kimberly; grandson, Jackson Stewart; sisters, Rachel Diane Heath, Sallie Lynn Simpson, and Sarah Carr; her brother, Charles Heath, and her ever-faithful dog, Remmie Girl.
