Redmond (Richmond) Wilson was born on November 27, 1953, to the late Hattie Mae (Mommie) Jackson and Richmond (Poppa Do) Wilson in Estell, South Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father.  One sister Eunice Lindsey, one son Antonio Pittman, one niece Taniya Brister, and his grandparents: Mamie & Obrey Jackson, Queen Victoria Belenger & Richard Jackson; and one brother-in-law Eric Pittman.

Rich was educated in the New York City School System.  He attended Loverly Hill Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY as a youth.  In his adult life Rich attended Christian Love Baptist Church in Irvington, NJ. Later in life he became a member of Living With Integrity Forever International Training Center where he was ordained as a Deacon and served under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Mary Iles.  He was employed with Amtrak Freight Line and Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Rich was a devoted family man who loved his family and was always there to lend a helping hand or an ear to hear any problems. He had a habit of making people feel special by listening to and understanding what was happening in any given situation. Rich thought he was a comedian; he loved to tell jokes and make others laugh and feel better whenever they were around him. His family also loved his "Hubba-Bubba" barbeque sauce.

One thing about Rich is he removed the word "goodbye" from his vocabulary. He felt that the word "goodbye" was too final; instead, he would always say "later" or "chow' when leaving your presence. In 2018 Rich relocated to Hope Mills, NC, with the love of his life of 28 years.  One of Rich's favorite words was VIC-TO-RI-A!

Rich leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Victoria Pittman-Wilson; Seven sons:  Kendall Boyd (Alethea) of South Carolina, Fredo Boucher (Amanda) and Jason Boucher (Mikki) of Tennessee, Richmond (Chris) Wilson (Felecia) of Maryland, Russell Smith of North Carolina and a special son/nephew Ransom Shannon, Jr. of Pennsylvania;  2 daughters LySheryl Edwards (Brian) and Tracey Morgan (Tony-D) of Nebraska.

He has 2 sisters Luveria Morris of New Jersey, Melody Brister (Cliff) of New York; 2 brothers Clarkston Wilson and Travis Wilson of New York; 5 sisters-in-law Linda Spellman of North Carolina, LyTrayer Wills (Lance) of New Jersey, Antonietta Bradley and LaVera Bradley of North Carolina and Regina Bradley of Georgia; 2 brothers-in law Darryl Pittman and Phillip Pittman of North Carolina; 1 special friend/brother Ranson Shannon, Sr of New Jersey.

He will truly be missed by his 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 15 nieces, 19 nephews, 4 godchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Rich had a special relationship with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his god children. With the help of the 3-H Hospice and Medical Team, care was provided around the clock; with the assistance of Russell Smith, Brooklyn Miles and LaKeisha Pittman who were with him until the very end.

Scripture:  Psalms 27:1-2 - The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom should, I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom should I be afraid.  When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh, my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 12 pm to 3 pm in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel.  At the request of Redmond, everyone is asked to wear RED!
