Reid was born and raised in the Fayetteville area and settled down locally after graduating from Methodist University in 1973. Reid began a successful career as a Commercial Lender within the banking industry holding various positions at several banks including Cape Fear Bank, United Carolina Bank, and BB&T. Reid was the consummate southern gentlemen, often preferring a handshake over a phone call and leaving a positive impression on everyone he met. He was a loyal and kind friend to everyone, often putting the needs of others before his own.
