Reva Dale
Parker
August 14, 1954 – May 26, 2016
Reva Dale Parker of Fayetteville died Thursday, May 26, 2016. Dale was born August 14, 1954 to Paul and Gerry Parker in Erwin, NC. Dale grew up in Charlotte, NC and moved to Tarboro, NC where she graduated from high school. She attended Stratford College and was a 1976 graduate of Meredith College, with a BA in Art, and a concentration in Education. She also earned a Master's Degree from East Carolina University in Art Education.
Dale's creativity and curiosity led her into the education profession. Dale taught, most recently in Cumberland County Schools, as the art teacher at Morganton Road Elementary. Previous teaching assignments had been in Edgecombe County, in Goldsboro at Wayne Country Day School and at The Fayetteville Academy. Her students became "her" children, and she dedicated her life to sharing her love of art with them.
With her late husband, Paul Laube, Dale shared her love of both art and travel. They vacationed in both Europe and the Carribean, exploring other cultures and swimming with dolphins. Always the teachers, Dale and Paul brought memorabilia home to share with their students, enriching their lives, as well. In teaching, Dale found her true calling. Her life's work enhanced the lives of thousands of children, over the years.
Haymount Methodist Church became Dale's church home and the members became her church family. She participated in many facets of the ministry there, from singing in the choir to leading workshops on prayer journals. Her great faith in God sustained her through difficult times, supported by her family, friends and church family.
Dale was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband Paul Laube and her beloved mother Gerry Elrod Parker. She is survived by her devoted father, Paul G Parker of Tarboro; her loving brothers Paul Parker III of Marietta, Ga.; Henry Parker of Blacksburg, Va.; and David Parker (James Olson) of Charleston, SC. She also is survived by five nieces and three nephews and one great nephew, of whom Dale loved. She is also missed by her beloved pets, Murphey and Bailey.
Visitation will be held at Haymount Methodist Church in Fayetteville on Monday, May 30 from 6 pm to 8 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 31, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the following charities: The American Cancer Society, Haymount United Methodist Church for the Nellie Allen Smith Endowment for the Arts or Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity
