Rex W. Atchley FAYETTEVILLE - Retired Army Staff Sgt. Rex William Atchley, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010. He wa a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars and served in the Army for more than 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Atchley; a son, Sam Atchley and his wife, Lynn; granddaughters, Sarah Atchley, and Katie Barkman and her husband, Japheth; and a great-grandchild, David. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Atchley. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Lafayette Baptist Church, with funeral services at 11 a.m., with Dr. Brian Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lafayette Baptist Church. Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
