Obituary

Robert H. "Bobby" Averette passed away peacefully at home in Durham, NC on Friday, July 13, 2018.

He was born on July 10, 1928 in Fayetteville. Bobby spent two years in the United States Navy before attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After marrying the former Mildred Parrish, his wife of sixty years and returning to Fayetteville, he worked as an accountant at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for thirty-two years. He and Mildred retired to Oak Island where they enjoyed many years at the beach before moving to Durham.

Bobby was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and Oak Island Presbyterian Church after retirement. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge, reading and dancing. Bobby's greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.

He is preceeded in death by his wife, Mildred; his parents, Harold and Annie Averette; and sisters, Margaret Beckman and Dorothy Davis.

He is survived by his son, Hal Averette and wife, Laura of Garner; Daughter, Cindy Owen and husband, Terry of Fayetteville; Grandchildren, Jason White and wife, Tanya; Lauren Plair and husband, Travis; Stephen White and wife, Chesley; and four great grandchildren.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 2pm at the Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends following the service at the Mausoleum.
