Robert Cecil Carlyle, 88, of Fayetteville, previously of Saint Pauls, NC, passed away on October 9, 2018.  The owner of Carlyle Realty, Inc., Cecil was involved for decades in building, sales, and appraising of real estate in eastern NC.  Before starting his lifelong career, he served in the National Guard Infantry and US Army Reserve as a 1st Lieutenant.

Cecil is a former Realtor of the Year, and formerly held the positions of president of the Fayetteville Area Board of Realtors, president of the Home Builders Institute, and chairman of the Southeastern Economic Development Commission.   He was appointed by Governor Hunt to the State Property Tax Study Commission, and also served as the chairman of the Cumberland County Equalization and Review Board.  He was the first person in Fayetteville to earn an M.A.I. (Member, Appraisal Institute) designation.

An avid student of New Testament Greek and the Bible, Cecil was a charter member of Village Baptist Church, and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jane Smith Carlyle, son Robert Jr., daughter Kelly Way and husband Brad, and grandchildren Bradley Way, Jr., Heather Carlyle Thrash and husband Colby.

The family would like to thank Valerie, Nica, Cheryl, Jamie, Janet, Rev. John and everyone else at Cape Fear Valley Hospice whose dedication and support was so integral to Cecil's final years of life.

A memorial service will be held at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home on October 14th at 2:30pm, followed by the burial at Lafayette Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30pm at the funeral home.
