Robert Charles "R.C." Wiggins, 85, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at his home with his beloved family by his side.
R.C. was born November 18, 1935 in Robeson County, NC to the late Bessie and Vernie Wiggins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Brad, Houston, Wilton, J.T., H.L. Wiggins. He was raised in Massey Hill and loved to go fishing at the Outer Banks.
R.C. was a Navy veteran. He retired as an assistant fire chief with the City of Fayetteville Fire Dept.
He was a former member of Carroll Memorial Baptist Church and a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Jernigan-Warren Chapel with Rev. Jim Boyle, officiating. Burial will follow at Raeford Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8:00 pm.
R.C. is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice B. Wiggins; daughters, Kathy W. Bannon and husband Ronald, Donna W. Johnson and husband Mike; son, Richard Craig Wiggins; sisters, Mamie Dees and Myrtle Holder and husband Sherrill; sister-in-law, Linda Wiggins; grandchildren, Brittany Johnson Miller and husband Matt, Brad Johnson and wife Jennifer, Richard Cameron Wiggins, Richard Cayden Wiggins; great-grandchildren, Finnlee Miller, Farrah Miller, Macoy Miller, Elizabeth Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville Firefighter's Benevolent Fund c/o R.C. Wiggins Memorial Fireman's Fund, 632 Langdon St. Fayetteville, NC 28301.
