Retired US Army SSG Robert L. Connor, 65, of Stedman died Saturday, December 3, 2011, in his residence. Mr. Connor was retired from the Army after 21 years of service including the Vietnam War. He also worked for the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville for 15 years. Funeral services will be held graveside on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 2 pm in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Pastor Richard Williford will preside. The family will receive friends prior to service form 12 noon to 1:30 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Dolly Connor of the home; children, Velda Jones of Clayton, Cathy Ryals of Fayetteville, James Senter of Erwin, James Connor Sr of New Hampshire, Jeffrey Connor of Wisconsin, and Melissa Connor of New Hampshire; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
