Robert S.
Gordon
August 19, 1929 – September 30, 2015
On September 30, 2015, Robert "Bob" Gordon passed away at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Abbeville, Alabama on August 18, 1929. He graduated in 1952 from Coyne Technical Institute in Chicago with a degree in Electronic Engineering. Afterwards, Bob served as a staff sergeant stationed in Germany from 1953 to 1955. He had an illustrious career as an electronics engineer working for firms such as Hayes Aircraft and McDonell Douglas until he found his passion as a teacher. Bob retired after 30 years as an instructor of Electronics Engineering Technology from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 1992. If you asked Bob his greatest accomplishment, it was convincing Patsy Haggard to marry him in December of 1953. Together, they raised three wonderful children. The family lived in Fayetteville since 1960. Bob is survived by his wife Patsy; a daughter, Robin Woods; a son, Steve Gordon; Steve's wife, Anita; another son, Randy Gordon; and Randy's wife, Joan. Bob has ten grandchildren: Stacey, Wesley, Ashley, Amanda, Amber, Brent, Kathryn, Rachel, Robert, and Megan. He also has five great-grandchildren: Myles, Corbin, Nicholas, Deklan, and Kayden. There will be a public memorial service on October 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm; visitation with the family will be starting at 1:00 pm. The service will be held at Cedar Falls Baptist Church located at 6181 Ramsey Street Fayetteville, NC 28311. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Pruitt Hospice or Cedar Falls Baptist Church where Bob was a member for over thirty years and served as a Deacon. The family thanks you for your prayers and well wishes.
