FAYETTEVILLE - Robert L. Kirkman, Jr., age 57, passed away 15 Apr 2016.

After retiring from the military, Robert pursued various local job opportunities before embarking on a fifteen plus year career with CECOM. Fulfilling five assignments in Iraq, he reassigned to Ft. Bragg in 2015 after completing an overseas assignment in Seoul, Korea.

Robert's free time was spent canvassing the aisles in various hardware stores configuring his latest home project. He would look at something, design it and carry it through completion. His carpentry skills were self taught; each job completed to perfection. His passion was his Harley; cruising through the countryside with his wife by his side.

We can still hear him coming through the front door with his favorite greeting, "Whaaaaatz up?". It has since become the family logo.

Robert was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Shin (Chong) and their son, Robin Kirkman; parents, Robert and Erika Kirkman; sister, Monique and Terry Fowler; nephews: Weslee (Melody), Alex and Trace Fowler. All of Fayetteville. His extended family: Chong Cotton; Pascal and Hyeon Beauvais and all family members residing here and in Korea.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 21 Apr 2016, at 11 am in Jernigan Warren Chapel. The burial will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home.
