Robert \\"Mike\\" Patterson Sr., 63 of Fayetteville died Monday, September 20, 2010, in Duke University Medical Center in Durham. A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at 3 pm in Camp Ground United Methodist Church with the Rev. Haywood Smith, Rev. David Wade, and Rev. Dennis Lamm officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm Friday at the church. Mr. Patterson was a retired science teacher at Seventy-First High School, with 33 years of service. He was a faithful member of Camp Ground United Methodist Church, committee chairman for the Boy Scouts Troop 748 at Camp Ground United Methodist Church and member of the N.C. Science Teachers Association. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Huggins Patterson of the home; sons, Robert Patterson Jr. of Fayetteville, and Luke Patterson of Wilmington; sister, Mary Kathryn Pollard and husband Larry of Christianburg, VA; a niece and several nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Ground United Methodist Church, c/o Mike Patterson Scholarship Fund, or Camp Ground UMC Boy Scout Program, Troop 748, at 4625 Campground Road, Fayetteville NC 28314.
