Robert Victor Ross, born May 21, 1921, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was 93 years old.
A graveside service will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Saturday at La Fayette Cemetery Park with Pastor David Blackman officiating.
Robert is survived by his sister, Betsy Ross-Miale, nieces, Betsylew Miale-Gix, Annette Miale Kohlbeck, Carla Miale, Roberta Miale Lott, Diane Ross Fleming and nephew, Robert Gruber.
As a Technical Sergeant in the 152nd Infantry, Robert served his country during WWII and was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Victory Medal and a Purple Heart.
After returning home from the war, Robert completed his education, then explored interior decorating and restauranteering before pursuing a career in auto sales and management.
Married for 55+ years to his beloved wife, Dorothy, Robert was a devoted husband. He was a loving, supportive, generous and fun brother, uncle and friend. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 2pm in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends following the service.
