Obituary

Robert Ross Pray, 84, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on November 11, 1937, in Low Moor, Iowa to the late, John Henry Pray and Gladys Steckman Prey. He retired as 1SG from the U.S. Army and after retirement he worked as manager of Able Pluming for the next 20 years.

Bob was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church where he was active in church ministries and charity events as long as his health allowed. His hobbies included building, stained glass, basket weaving and baking. He loved cooking and sharing meals with his family and friends. He had a passion for gardening, where he had a green thumb and could bring back any wilted or distressed plant. He was known for his quick wit and could turn any frown upside down.

Bob loved traveling to Harker's Island, where he enjoyed boating and fishing with is father-in-law. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022, at 12 noon at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Adella Smith Pray; brothers, Richard, Jack and Howard Pray.

He is survived by his daughter, Juli Anne Pray; grandson, Xavior Pray Nix and sister, Gloria Jean Lowry.
