Robert Watkins Spain, Jr., 72 of Eastover passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019.

Robert was born on August 31, 1946 in Vance County, NC to the late Bob and Pearl Spain.

Robert had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 47 years.  There he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, treasurer and choir member. He was dedicated to his family and cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Robert also took great pride in leading and growing the family business with integrity. He was a proud alumnus of NC State University.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Kelly Bullard, officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lavetta Strickland Spain of the home; son, Marshall Spain and wife Leta of Fayetteville; daughter, Allison Abell and husband Geoff of Raleigh; brothers, Tom Spain and wife Jane of Henderson; John Spain and wife Linda of Raleigh; Jim Spain and wife Kandee of Greensboro; sister, Linda Pegram of Henderson; grandchildren, Olivia Spain, Bryce Spain, Rylan Abell, Piper Abell and Quinn Abell.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church 3159 Sanderosa Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28312.
