Retired US Army Sergeant Major Ronald A. Pollock, 72, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 in UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at 2 pm at Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm at the chapel.
Ron was retired from the US Army after 28 years of service which included deployments to Vietnam, Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and CSM Joint Task Force Bravo Honduras. His assignments included the 5th and 10th Special Forces Group, 20th Engineering Brigade and the 130 Engineer Brigade. Ron's duty assignments include Fort Bragg NC, Fort Devens, MA, and Germany. Ron's awards and decorations include The Special Forces Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, and Joint Unit Commendation Medal. Following the military, he worked for Powers Swain Chevrolet as a salesman for 17 years. Ron was a loving husband to Eileen Pollock; father to 4 sons, Michael, John A. (Jaque), Frank (Erin) and Curtis (Charay); grandfather to 5 grandchildren; brother to Joanne Nixon (Gordon), Donna Foss (Brian), Wendy Larkin (Ross) and Larry Corbett;
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Heidi, sister, Carole Corbett; and a brother, John A. Pollock, Jr.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Ron's wonderful neighbors who have been so helpful during this time and throughout all these many years.
