Ronald "Ronnie" Stokes West, age 70, passed away in his Hope Mills home on Sunday, October 30, 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Flora Mae Ennis; son, Eddie, and wife, Becky, of Hope Mills; son, Steve, and wife, Kathy, of Medford, NJ; daughter, Angel, of Hope Mills; sister, Marsha, and husband, Jerry Chappell, of Pungo, VA; grandchildren, Dennis Shamblin, and wife Joy, of Little Creek Naval Base, VA; granddaughter Amanda and husband Brian Myers, of Lynchburg, VA; granddaughters, Jessica Shamblin and Jillian West, grandson, Carson West, and great-grandchildren, Orion and Trulie Grace Myers.

Ronnie had an extensive career in Backflow Prevention, including 36 years at PWC, and 13 additional years in education and certification. Mr. West was a well-respected man in his field and held multiple positions on local, state, and national boards and organizations. He served with the Hope Mills Fire Department for 17 years, and was President and Fire Chief in the 1980's.

Ronnie was a devoted family man who took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He never missed a game, performance, or graduation. He was an active member of Massey Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel West, brother James West, Jr., and sister, Vivian West.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at Jernigan and Warren Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at Massey Hill Baptist Church, 1027 Southern Ave., Fayetteville, NC, with interment to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
