Mrs. Rose McLaurin Smith, age 100, of Winston-Salem, NC, formerly of Dobbin Holmes Rd, Fayetteville, NC, died peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Rose is survived by two grandsons: David Ashley Smith II of Winston-Salem, NC, and his wife Lisa and their sons Nicholas and Matthew; and Kelly Monroe Smith of Greensboro, NC, and his partner Jeff Poteat and their sons Jonathan and Jordan. She was predeceased by her husband, Alley David Smith, her son, David Ashley Smith, and two sisters, Iula and Katherine. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:30am at Salem United Methodist Church cemetery in Eastover. The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service starting at 10:30am at the church. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 2165 Middle Road, Eastover, NC 28312.
