Roy W. McAlister, 86, of Fayetteville died July 25, 2015, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Roy was born June 19, 1929, in Oconee County, SC. He was the son of the late C. F. and Clara McAlister of Greer, SC.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015, at 1 pm in Jernigan Warren Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Francis Daniel presiding. The family will receive friends following the funeral service at the funeral home.

The burial will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 2 pm in Abner Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Greer, SC.

Roy is survived by his wife, Gladys McAlister of the home; brother, Richard McAlister and wife Cel of Greer, SC; son, Steve McAlister and wife Sonia, grandson, Jeff McAlister and wife Rebecca, and great-grandson, Tyler McAlister, all of Fayetteville; step-daughters, Karen Dorroll and Jean Chandler, both of Nashville, TN; and step-son, Richard Punch of Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Hendrix McAlister; brothers, Clyde McAlister and Ralph McAlister; and sister, Nellie Smith.

Roy moved to Fayetteville with his family in 1954 and enjoyed a successful career as a salesman for several wholesale food companies including 23 years with Frosty Morn Meats.

He was a 61 year member of Haymount United Methodist Church where he will be remembered by his many friends and especially the Barrington Bible Class where he enjoyed sharing his wonderful singing voice.
