AYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Ruby Alice Call Pittman, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Ruby was born in Wilkesboro on July 20, 1929, to the late Darius and Nora Call. Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and faithful servant for the Lord. Ruby also loved being with her church family, working in her yard, having a cup of tea with her devotional time, and taking care of the many pets that found a home with her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Maurice; son, Maurice Jr.; grandson, Maurice Barber; brothers, Sherman and Hubert Call; and sister, Lucille Call Scott.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Bliss of Newport, Vt.; daughter, Kathryn Pittman Barber of Fayetteville; son, Gregory Pittman and wife Janet of Goldsboro, and Carlton Pittman of Fayetteville; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Pittman of Durham; brothers, James of El Cerrito, Calif., and Charles and wife Chris of Chattaroy, Wash.; five grandchildren, Ronda Fletcher and husband Danny of Derby Line, Vt., Brian Simoneau and wife Brook of West Charleston, Vt., Ashley Braddock and husband Eric of Murray, Ky., Elizabeth Pittman of Dallas and Emily Pittman of Durham; five great-grandchildren, Allison Ruby of Derby Line, Ryan Fletcher of Derby, Vt., and Andrew Halpern, Cody Simoneau and Dylan Simoneau all of West Charleston; a great-great-grandchild, Logan Fletcher of Derby; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight, Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, in Cedar Falls Baptist Church, with the Rev. Floyd Benfield and Dr. Michael Cogdill officiating. Interment will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
