Ruby K. Stephens FAYETTEVILLE — Mrs. Ruby Kivett Stephens, 84, of Fayetteville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born April 21, 1928, and was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Pittman Stephens; her brother, William Ervin Kivett; and her daughter, Lora Stephens Horne. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was retired from Cumberland County Schools, where she was a substitute teacher for more than 18 years. Her hobbies included playing golf and watching her Duke Blue Devils, but most of all, she enjoyed being with her loving dog, Jasper. Ruby is survived by two children, Bruce Stephens and Sheila Salinas, and a brother, Harmon Kivett, all of Fayetteville; six grandchildren ;and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, December, 22, 2012today at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at noon, with the Rev. Randall Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4.
