Ruth Ray Berkowicz, 89 of Clayton, NC formerly of Fayetteville passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at UNC Johnston Health Care Center in Clayton with her family by her side.

Ruth was born June 13, 1928 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Edna and Ralph Ray. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilton Grimes and Anthony Berkowicz ; brothers, Lamar Ray and Melvin Ray.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 1:00 pm in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Ruth is survived by a son, Larry Ray Grimes and wife Janet Wright of Raleigh; daughter, Deborah Grimes of Clayton; grandchildren, Naava Honer, Jessica Church, Hartley Ray Grimes and wife Jessica, Lydia Horne and Tavish Camu; great-grandchildren, Rose Bounds and Miles Grimes.
