Ruth W. Dillard
FAYETTEVILLE -- Mrs. Ruth Dillard crossed the river to her heavenly father on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, after an extended illness. She is survived by her son, Bruce Dillard and his wife, Tommy Carol, of Raleigh; her daughter-in-law, Ann; seven grandchildren, Jim, Joel, Jonathan, Josh, Shelley, Karen and Jamie; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Bryan Dillard. She was born March 14, 1924, in Louisville, Ky. She and her late husband, Raymond Dillard, moved to Fayetteville in 1956, where she worked for more than 30 years at Pope Air Force Base as the secretary to the base commander. She loved sewing, knitting, doll making, Scrabble, chocolate and yorkies. She was a longtime member of Crossview Alliance Church on Fort Bragg Road. On Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, the family will receive guests from noon to 1 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
