Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE — Mrs. Ruth Rankin Nimocks, 98, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. in Hay Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Blackman presiding. The family will receive friends following the service in the church's Family Life Center. Ruth was a graduate of Highsmith Rainey Nursing School, class of 1936. She was a longtime member of Hay Street United Methodist Church and the Lizzie Lamb Sunday School class. She served as past president of Aglow International Fellowship and was an active member of Lydia Women's International. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quincy K. Nimocks III; sisters, Coy T. Pate of Raleigh, Juanita Rankin of Wilmington and Margaret West of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and brothers, Ray Rankin of Charlotte and Charles Rankin of Jacksonville, Fla. She is survived by her sons, Quincy K. Nimocks IV and wife, Deborah S. Nimocks, of Fayetteville, and Robert R. Nimocks and wife, Lynn S. Nimocks, of Fayetteville; daughter, Ruth Nimocks Lucas and husband, Stephen A. Lucas, of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Quincy K. Nimocks V and wife, Caitlin, Brooks Nimocks, Amber Marie Shaffer and husband, Joshua Kristian Shaffer, Robert Rankin Nimocks Jr. and wife, Meredith, Jessica Lynn Nimocks, Jared Nimocks Lucas and wife, Katie, and Christopher Thomas Lucas; great-grandchildren, Samuel Nimocks Shaffer and Emerson Leigh Lucas; sister, Lillian Morris of Durham; and brother, Wilton Rankin of Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hay Street United Methodist Church Building Fund, 320 Hay Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 2 pm in Hay Street United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church's Family Life Center.
