Obituary

Samuel Dwight Hair, 73 of Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at home.

The son of William and Lossie Hair, Sam spent his early life in Wade, North Carolina. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1966 and honorably served the United States during a combat tour in Vietnam. After his time in the service, he returned to Wade and began a career as a cable repairman with Carolina Telephone.

Sam was a faithful son, who spent many years caring for his mother until her passing. Later in life he married his loving wife Sandy. They shared 34 years enjoying time together at the beach fishing off the pier, going to auctions, and taking trips to the casinos. The life Sandy and Sam shared was filled with love, happiness and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Sandy's children were blessed to have him as a father; he loved them as his own and they cherish all the years they spent as a family. Sam was a very proud poopah, who loved taking his grandchildren to the country to run the land and pick blueberries and pears.

Mr. Hair was preceded in death by his wife Sandy Hair, his parents William and Lossie Hair, and three sisters, Delia Phillips (Hugh J), Glenda Davis and Daphnia Castellow (Lewis).

He is survived by his children, Denise Farley (Buster) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jerry D Johnson (Leslie) of Apex, NC, Harry C Johnson (Ellen) of Charlotte, NC, Yvonne Pickering of Cookeville, TN, his grandchildren, Fletcher Pickering, Jacob Pickering, and Catherine Johnson; a sister Genevieve Matson (d. Pete) of Excelsior Springs, MO; a brother, James Hair of Wade, NC and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Sunday June 13, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
