Obituary

Samuel Chester Parkinson (Sam), 83, of Fayetteville passed away on October 11, 2011. He was born on September 26, 1928 in Etowah, Tennessee to Jack and Estelle Parkinson. He is survived by his loving wife Louise Parkinson, daughters Gail Hardie and husband Bob of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Susan Parkinson of Winder, Georgia; sons Sandy Parkinson of Greensboro and John Parkinson and wife Regina of Friendswood, Texas and nephew Cecil Parkinson and wife Sandra of Cleveland, Tennessee. He is also survived by seven grandchildren (Kate Hardie, David Hardie, Jennifer Williams and husband Zane, Drew Parkinson, Adrienne Bartley, Cameron Bartley and Landon Bartley) and two great grandchildren (Scout Hardie and Harper Williams). Sam was a longtime resident of Fayetteville and worked in the retail clothing industry in various management roles. He was a devoted follower of Christ holding ordained deacon and elder positions and was a founding member of Berean Baptist Church. He was also a lifelong sports fan following Atlanta Braves baseball and NC State sports most closely. A graveside service and burial will be held on October 14, 2011 at Eastanollee Baptist Church cemetery in Riceville, Tennessee with the Rev. Oren Creaseman officiating.
