Sandra Davis Twiddy, 78, of Durham, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at The Croasdaile Village Retirement Center in Durham with her beloved family by her side.

Sandra was born May 14, 1944, in Roanoke Rapids, NC to the late Mary Louise and Gilbert Wesley Davis.

Sandra taught second grade at Morganton Road Elementary School. She loved her students and colleagues dearly and enjoyed making learning fun for the children.

She was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church for all her adult life where she was a loyal volunteer with Mission Friends in her younger years, a homebound committee member, and more recently chaired the Bereavement Committee.

Sandra loved to travel near and far with family and friends. After retiring, Sandra spent many happy times with her daughters and their families. Her five grandchildren were her pride and joy and she truly "loved them to the moon and back."

In more recent years, Sandra was a devoted caregiver to her husband Joe, her sweetheart of over 50 years. They continued to love to dance and laugh throughout their days together.

A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 12 noon at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Sandy Saunders, officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Joseph Wilson Twiddy of Durham; daughters, Mary Beth McIntyre and husband Jimmy of Durham, Susan Fountain and husband Reed of Raleigh; sister, Mary John Dostert of Durham; sister-in-law, Norma Davis of Durham; grandchildren, Evan McIntyre, Graham McIntyre, Taylor Fountain, Caitlin Fountain, Cameron Fountain.
