Obituary

Wallace , S.C. Sara A. Fletcher, 87, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Centreville, Mi. Surviving are her husband, John W. Fletcher, Jr. of Wallace, S.C., daughter, Mollie F. Klocek and husband Thomas of Chesapeake, Va., son, Rev. Michael P. Fletcher and wife Laura of Fayetteville, and son, Joseph A. Fletcher and wife Betty of Wilmington, DE. Daughter-in-law, Victoria Fletcher of Flowery Branch, Ga., 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Augustus Adams, a son, John Fletcher, brother, Pete Adams, sisters, Mary Krogland, Martha Seeker, Augusta Reich. Sara Adams graduated from Columbus High School during the depression and went to work helping to support her family. She worked as a medical and lab tech during WWII at Fort Benning, Ga. She met and married a young officer named John W. Fletcher in 1949. Together they traveled across the United States raising 4 children on the Army bases where he was assigned. Even though Sara was a busy wife and Mom she still managed to donate her time to different volunteer work, in base hospitals, teaching first aide, or at family service centers. In 1971, after a lifetime of military service, the couple settled down in Fayetteville, N.C. where they opened a business, Continental Tax Service. For over 30 years Sara was the Vice President of the company. She was in charge one of the offices and was a tax consultant and accountant. Still a busy Mom she saw her two youngest sons through high school and through college. In the early 2000's John and Sara sold the controlling interest in their business and now live in an historic home, which they renovated, in South Carolina.
