September 19, 1930 – April 29, 2016
FAYETTEVILLE - Selma Pait Brown, age 85, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016 following a brief illness. She was born in Bladen County to Wade and Maggie Pait on September 19, 1930. Selma was a loving wife and mother. She was devoted to her husband, JD, of 66 years and took great pride in their home and yard. Her joy was her family that included 4 children, and she loved being a Grandma to her 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Selma loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for those family visits. Selma was known to many children in the area, as she served as a Kindergarten Teacher's Assistant for 20 years at Montclair Elementary. Many former students would stop by the house and chat. She will be remembered fondly by many students and their families. She is survived by her husband, JD Brown and his sister, Lenora Callihan of Charlotte, and their children; Jack and Rita Brown of Acworth, GA; Mike Brown of Engelhard, NC; Debbie and Dan Black of Greensboro, NC; and Terri and Matt Fogle of Charlotte. Grandchildren Michael and Ambar Brown, Charlie Brown, Haley Brown Christina Brown, Robert Brown-Griffin, Heather Velke, Sarah Black, Ross Black, and Rachel Fogle. She is also survived by great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home for her visitation at 2pm followed by her funeral at 3pm on Monday, May 2nd. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, also on Ramsey Street
