SGM (R) Thomas Gordon Shanklin, 90, of Fayetteville, NC, died Monday, March 6, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Thomas was born February 10, 1933, in Fullerton, NE, to the late Thomas Dee Shanklin and Helen E. Barnstable Shanklin.  He retired from the US Army after 28 years.  Thomas was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Shanklin.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 67 years, S. Rose Shanklin; son, Michael D. Shanklin; daughter, Linda Stirling; three grandchildren, Lauren, Andrea, and Julie; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ryann, and Brooke; brother, Michael Ray Shanklin (wife Della); two sisters, Lavonne Young (husband Ken) and Carol Behrens (husband Jim).

A celebration of Thomas' life will be held at a later date in California.
