Fayetteville

Mr. Sherman Davis, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Sherman was born on August 12, 1937, in Cumberland County to the late John Davis and Ada Everette Davis.

A proud veteran, Sherman served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years to Civil Service, working in multiple capacities before his retirement.

Sherman had a lifelong love of baseball and was a devoted New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed collecting a variety of items throughout the years and found great joy in spending time fishing. Known by family and friends as a true fisherman, he treasured every opportunity to be on the water.

Above all, Sherman was a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother, and proud "Poppy." His greatest happiness came from the time he spent with his family, and he will be remembered for his unwavering love, kindness, and dedication to those he held dear.

In addition to his parents, Sherman was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Davis, Johnny Davis, and Gene Davis; and his sisters, Sylvia Edwards and Carol LeCuyer

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 59 years, Patty Lambert Davis; his son, Brian Davis; his granddaughter, Angel Davis; his sister, Kathy Davis Jones and husband, J.B.; and several nieces and nephews.
