Sherwood Lane Seagroves, 70, of Linden passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his home.

Sherwood was born August 20, 1951 in Lee County, NC to the late Juanita Barrs. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Duvose.

He was a retired Army Sergeant Veteran and spent some time serving the military in Germany.

Sherwood was a retired technician with Carolina Telephone.

Sherwood loved the Carolina Tarheels basketball games, opening day of dove season, horses, and spending time with his family. He loved good food and made the best BBQ sauce.

Sherwood was Past Chaplain of Elks Lodge #1081 of Fayetteville and was a member for 36 years.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.

Survived by his father, Robert L. Barrs; daughter, Kelly Seagroves-Tepe and husband John; son, Dallas Seagroves and wife Melissa; brother, James Seagroves and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Austin Lane Seagroves, Daniel Lee Seagroves, Ty Robert Tepe, Madeline Mae Seagroves.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elks Lodge #1081 of Fayetteville in memory of Sherwood Seagroves, 3269 Gables Dr. Fayetteville, NC 28301.
