FAYETTEVILLE- Mrs. Shirley Yates Bales, 75, of Fayetteville, died Sunday evening, April 1, 2012 in the Rehab and Healthcare Center at Village Green. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 3 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Rev. Todd Brady officiating. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 3 at the funeral home on Thursday. Mrs. Bales was treasurer of the Local Chapter of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees) since 1989; she was a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary; member of the Eastern Star Chapter 333; treasurer and active member of the Golden Bowling Club; and member of the Fayetteville United States Bowling Association. She is survived by her son, Michael S. Bales Sr. and wife Robin of Fayetteville; daughter, Deborah Longcrier and husband Kyle of Fayetteville; brother, David Earl Yates of Chilhowie, Virginia; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 3 nieces and 2 great-nieces.
