Obituary

Mrs. Shirley A. Booth, 74, of 6244 Lansford Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Booth was a graduate of Lumberton High School and attended Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs. She retired from civil service at Fort Bragg. She was a very faithful member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir as long as she was able. She was a longtime member and treasurer of the Dorcas Sunday school class. She was an animal lover, and especially loved her cocker spaniels. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, in Mount Gilead Baptist Church with the Rev. Sherrill Boykin officiating. Entombment will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Booth is survived by her husband of 47 years, John G. Booth of the home; and her brother, William C. Hinds of Red Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Gilead Baptist Church Building Fund, 6248 Cliffdale Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
