Shirley Rea Armstrong, 86, of Fairfax, VA, formerly of Fayetteville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2022, surrounded by family.

Shirley was born on June 13, 1935 to the late Rev Delma Horace Lowder and Zula Watson in Rowan County, NC.

She is survived by her husband, Durwood Armstrong; children, Nancy Rea Rehm and Michael Rea of Clayton, NC and Cathy Del Rea of Fayetteville NC; grandchildren, Nicole Rea Harrell, Thomas Godwin, Laura Elizabeth Hershey and Jessie, Gracie and Hunter Rea.

There will be a visitation honoring Shirley's life from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 10th, 2022, at Murphy's Funeral Home in Falls Church, VA.

Locally, the family will receive friends on Monday, March 14, 2022, from 10am to 12pm, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home with a Funeral Service to follow at 12 pm.  Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
