Mrs. Shirley Joan Northen, 71, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, in N.C. State Veterans Nursing Home. Mrs. Northen was born June 8, 1936, in Cumberland County to Andrew Floyd and Virginia Mae Hair Tousley. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and a founding member of the Easter sunrise service and a participant for more than 20 years. She was affiliated with the Lay Witness Foundation, Multimedia Crusade out of Richmond, Va. Her amazing singing talents extended into various theaters in the Fayetteville area. Mrs. Northen was also well known for her meticulous catering skills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Northen Jr.; and a daughter, Lynka Denise Northen.
