Obituary

Stanley Edward Winters ("Stan"), 83, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, following a remarkable battle against cancer in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

He was born on June 30, 1933 in Cartwright, North Dakota, in his grandmother's home. He had both a BS from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, and a MS from San Diego State University. For work, he served in the US Navy, was a County Deputy Marshal for the City of San Diego, a U.S. Deputy Marshal, and a Federal Probation Officer, where he "retired."

After retirement, he worked for a period of time for Solid Waste, County of Mendocino, supervising work crews, and served as a Court Security Officer for the Federal Bankruptcy courts. He then retired again. Stan enjoyed golf and doing backhoe work. His sense of humor never left him. Stan is survived by Marilynn Winters, his wife of 46 years; his son, Michael Winters and his son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Victoria Winters, all of Fayetteville North Carolina; four grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

A "celebration of life" gathering will be held in the future. Donations, if any, can be sent to a local hospice or a charity of your own choosing.
