Mr. Stephen T. Horne, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Mr. Horne was born October 18, 1931, in Rowland, NC to the late Stephen T. Horne, Sr. and Evie Lee Horne.

Mr. Horne was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lee, father and mother, Stephen and Evie Lee Horne, stepmother Mary Lois Horne, and brother Robert Horne.

He was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. He had a strong faith in his Lord.

Mr. Horne co-owned and operated businesses in Fayetteville for many years prior to his retirement in 1976. After spending time at Long Beach with his wife, Lee, he returned to Fayetteville to work in the real estate sector. In 1996, he retired from the Cumberland County Tax Assessor's office as Tax Administrator.

After retirement in 1996, he became an avid golfer and enjoyed time with his family and many friends in the Fayetteville area. He loved the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Mr. Horne was a member of the Cumberland County Shrine Club and the Sudan Oriental Band for 28 years; Chairman of the 1st Sudan Shrine Circus in Fayetteville; co-chaired the Crippled Children's committee; and always worked at the annual fish fry.

Mr. Horne is survived by one daughter, Karen Blanton and her husband David, of Lake Wylie, SC; two sons, Wayne Whitaker and wife Patsy, of Leland and Ben Whitaker and wife Wanda, of Hope Mills; brothers Alfred Horne and wife Rosa, of Hope Mills and Gary Horne and wife Alyce, of Fayetteville; sisters Jeanette Faye Horne and Charlene Horne, both of Fayetteville; and sister-in-law Audrey Horne of Fayetteville. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 6-8 P.M. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

A celebration of Mr. Horne's life will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at 3 P.M. at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
