Stephen Ray Melvin, 69, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the Carolina Rehab Center of Cumberland after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Steve was born November 4, 1952, in Fayetteville, NC, to the late Benjamin Ray Melvin and Gracie Beard Melvin.  Steve attended Cape Fear High School and then completed his undergraduate studies at Wake Forest University.  He received his law degree from Campbell University.  He worked as an attorney in Fayetteville for many years.

Steve is survived by his son, Derek Melvin and his mother Grace Melvin.

A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., in the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
