Mr. Stephen "Steve" M. Wheeler, 70 of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Wheeler was always in the auto body business and was presently the owner and operator of Fayetteville Collision on Raeford Road in Fayetteville. Steve was an active member of Highland Presbyterian Church and the John M. Wilson Bible Class. He was a member of the Fayetteville Area Shaggers Hall of Fame and also Highland Country Club. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be truly missed by not only his loved ones but also the employees of Fayetteville Collision. Funeral services for Steve will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Highland Presbyterian Church 111 Highland Avenue Fayetteville, N.C. 28305 with Dr. Ernest Johnson and Dr. Doc Wyle officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St. The family received friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Mr. Wheeler is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Linda Tilley Wheeler of the home, son Stephen V. Wheeler and his wife Kaye of Hope Mills, daughter Stephanie W. Foley and her husband John of Fayetteville, brother Jay Maultsby of Fayetteville, sisters Betty W. Hughes and husband Dan of Jonesboro, Georgia, Cecelia Maultsby of Smyrna, Georgia, Dawn M. Fleck and husband Gary of Fayetteville, June M. Thompson and husband Bill of Washington State, 2 grandsons Christopher M. Wheeler andStephen Brent Wheeler of Hope Mills. Steve was preceded in death by his father Sidney R. Wheeler, mother Mary D. Barden and twin brother Sidney R. Wheeler.
