Steven Douglas
King
October 19, 1974 – May 26, 2016
Steven King, 41, of Fayetteville, departed this world on Thursday, May 26th, leaving behind a legacy of passion for music, family, and the South.
Steve was an entertainer, a builder, and a dreamer. As handsome as he was talented, those of us who knew Steve, will remember him as a man who could accomplish whatever he put his mind to. From building houses and rewiring electronics, to writing and performing original songs, he could teach himself to do practically anything. Music was always the great love of Steve's life. He learned to play piano, drums, and guitar, and had his first gig at age 12. Being in a band - practicing, goofing off, playing gigs - was one of the most important things in his life, and something that brought him a great deal of happiness. One of Steve's greatest qualities was his ability to believe - believe that one day he would make a difference in the lives of his boys, make things better for himself and his family, and make his loved ones proud. - Steve, we were always proud of you. If love could have saved you, you'd never have left us. Steve is survived by his beloved children, Reagan, 2 and Jackson, 4 mos.; fiancee Joanna Peterson; father and mother, Gerald and Janet King of Fayetteville; two brothers, Brad King and wife Emily, and Rich King and partner Brian; an uncle, Arthur Schmidt, as well his uncle and aunt, Rudy and Cheryl Rico of Leland; and two cousins, Aaron and wife Melanie, and David. He also leaves behind countless friends, band mates, guitars, and songs yet unwritten. A memorial service and visitation will be held at Jernigan Warren funeral home in Fayetteville on Thursday, June 2nd at 6pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to a fund for Steve's boys, Reagan and Jackson, by visiting www.ReaganAndJacksonKing.org.
