Obituary

Langdon, Stewart FAYETTEVILLE - Roy Stewart Langdon, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 26, 2009, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The Harnett County native is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Faye Langdon of the home; and their three children, Connie Messer Jackson and her husband, Waymon Jackson, of Sampson county, Kathy Messer Price of Fayetteville, and Gary Stewart Langdon and his wife, Kim Langdon, of Hope Mills. Mr. Langdon is also survived by six grandchildren, Jamie Faye Newsom, Candace Gayle Beatty and her husband, Michael William Beatty, Gary Stewart Langdon Jr. , Justin Weslie Langdon, Stacy Marie Langdon and David Stewart Price; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Gray Beatty and Noah Stewart Beatty. Mr Langdon was born Aug. 23, 1927 to Bessie Stewart Langdon and Ellis Langdon. He was preceded in death by his 11 older siblings, Talmadge Langdon, Bertha Byrd, Alvis Langdon, Nora Jones, Jarvis Langdon, Lola Ennis, Ralph Langdon, Ollie Penny, Ernis Langdon, Geraldine Stewart and Myrtle Broglin. Mr. Langdon was deeply devoted to his family and friends and was a member of Faymont Baptist Church. As a business entrepreneur, he was the former owner and operator of numerous auto parts stores in Fayetteville and surrounding areas. He was also known as the \\"family cook.\\" His passion was cooking for and feeding others. With deep appreciation, his family acknowledges the loving care of the staff of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital and members of Fayetteville Hospice. A visitation and funeral service will be held today, Aug. 29, 2009, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Jerome Pope, who is the nephew of Mr. Langdon. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
